Day 8 the full story Slochd to Inverness

We woke after quite a night. We had pitched the tent in Ian Bishops grounds about fifty metres from a railway cutting. At midnight a generator started up, floodlights came on and the railway repair gang arrived to drill and hammer until 5am or so. We say “or so” because we were so tired that we slept through most of it and didn’t hear it stop.

This was another glorious sunny day with great views as we crested Slochd summit and dropped down to Inverness.

On the way we were encouraged by some Bible verses on trailers and as we passed one house we decided to call in. We enjoyed a lovely welcome from Anne and Donald Henderson, farmers who were behind the placing of the signs - a cup of coffee and a freshly baked scone were much appreciated.

In Inverness we were so pleased to meet Alan Cuthbert a friend of Dale and Marjorie Peterson who delivered two bike boxes. The usual stressful period follows as we tried to fit everything in to the various allowances . The airport staff were so so helpful as we tried to get our tandem box under the limit of 32kg.

Then after a slightly delayed flight we bumped into Luton airport in the middle of a rainstorm.

The other blogs will share our heartfelt thanks for your encouragement and support.

God bless

Stephen and Susan

Well, whatever time of day you touched down at Luton you would have been in the middle of a rainstorm as it bucketed down ALL day and night.
