Day 8 Thanks to you - the long (1509 miles) and winding road

Over 1500 miles after setting off from Lands End we arrived at 5:30 pm today at John O’Groats. Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts and creaky knees for your encouragement, prayers and support as we have tried to raise support for the Happy Home.

Those of you who know us well will appreciate that our Christian faith is important to us so that’s why we were able to sing the (amended) first verse of the hymn in the video - thank God for safe travels, thank God for those involved in the Happy Home reaching out to help people in desperate need and thank God for you!!

The eagle eyed of you will notice that our detours from the direct mileage on the sign in the photo have doubled the distance travelled - sorry to those who have sponsored us per mile!!

Today has been a funny day - as it feels like the end, but we still have the remotest stretch to do heading south through the central highlands back to Inverness. We have got to get the motivation up for more hills! The good news is that the strong wind that tried to push us westward today (the wrong way) can blow as hard as it wants tomorrow!!

Wind apart though it’s been another dry and sunny day as we bombed past bits of the coast (Dounreay) and explored some other lovely sites across the North Coast.

Anyone recognise the castle?

So thanks again - we are off to get ready for the final 180 miles!!!

God bless

Susan and Stephen

Have been thinking of you today on what I thought was the last leg of the journey. Delighted for you that you made it and hope you have a comfy bed waiting for you. I hadn’t thought about how you‘d get back to Inverness. Is there not a train?!! Anyway, well done on your incredible achievement and God bless xx

Wow what an achievement. Well done seems hardly adequate! Hope the last leg is a breeze (in the right direction of course) and come back safely. Loved the song. Looks like the Castle of May to me in the photo - visited a few years ago on a tour of the north coast.
