Early start today and on the road by 8am. The promised wind behind us didn’t materialise but we had sun all the way to the hills when mist and rain descended. It might have been the conditions but we were both surprised by how the hills looked like proper mountains!
There were lots of showers. Lots of long steady uphills and some lovely downhill bits. We were quite pleased to do the 80 miles in ten hours without sore bottoms! We arrived at Culzean castle country park campsite at 6pm With views over to Arran through the showers,
This was one of the two days when we are doing more than we are comfortable with - our preferred range being closer to 50 miles. We were encouraged by a donation of £1 per mile so we were counting the pennies every time the pedals went round! Thanks to you all for your support and messages - they help a lot!!
Susan’s brother David came to see us in the evening with some very welcome fish and chips!!
Thanks David!!
The campsite has lovely views over Arran but the weather seems to be ignoring the forecast and keeps raining!! Never mind!!
Finally - why not enjoy a downhill ride with us
Amazing stuff! Keep going!
wow what an inspiration you both are! Hoping the weather is kind to you today xx Happy cycling - and stay safe xxx
Amazing, 80 miles! You're doing so well. Keep safe and enjoy it x
Looks beautiful. I'm wary of downhills after all you told us about tandems and brakes and speed.... keep safe! and enjoy lots !!!!
Am full of admiration - 80 miles! Well done! Thinking of you and wishing you a good day today and for the rest of the trip. Carole x
